Timeline Analysis
Timelines are a valuable tool in any fire or explosion investigation. Fire Investigators should be building timelines, even the simplest ones, in every investigation. Timelines are crucial for analyzing origin and cause data, building and testing hypotheses, and identifying additional data. In this course you will learn the fundamentals of building a timeline, how to apply that timeline to analyze data within a fire investigation, and how to ensure the accuracy of a timeline.

Learn the Fundamentals
You will learn how timelines are used in a fire investigation, types of data to collect for use in the timeline, how to ensure the accuracy of that data, how to perform a timeline analysis, and different ways to present your timeline analysis.
Applications
By learning about the fundamentals of timeline analysis, you will be learning about a recommended methodology in NFPA 921 and satisfying qualification requirements in NFPA 1033.

Meet the instructor
Dixon Robin
IAAI-CFI, IAAI-CI
Dixon Robin is the owner of Fire Sequence Investigations LLC, a private fire and explosion investigation firm based out of Rochester, New York, and co-owner of FireCred LLC. Dixon retired in 2021 as a Supervisory Special Agent/CFI with ATF. As an ATF National Response Team (NRT) Supervisor, Dixon lead a veteran team of Special Agent/CFIs and subject matter experts in investigating large fire, bombing, and explosion events throughout the country. Dixon was employed in Federal law enforcement for over 26 years, the bulk of that career being spent at ATF as a Special Agent/Certified Fire Investigator in Rochester, NY. Dixon is an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) and Certified Instructor (CI) and has instructed courses internationally at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), the National Fire Academy (NFA), the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), and at a variety of venues throughout the United States.
Dixon has served as the President of the New York State Chapter of the IAAI and as a member of the NIST OSAC Fire and Explosion Investigation Subcommittee.
